History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it is said to have been founded in the 2nd year of Emperor Ōjin, but there are said to be no reliable documents. The Shoku Nihon Kōki records that it was granted a divine rank in Kashō 3, and in early times it was called the Ōmiya of Maki no Shō. In the early modern period it was revered by the local lords as the Ōmiya of Teshima District, and the present shrine buildings were completed in Shōwa 50.
