History and things to know
According to the temple history, of the nine lodging temples established at Hanaoka Hachimangū, which received a share of the spirit of Usa Hachiman in Wadō 2, this is regarded as the only one remaining today. The "aka" in the temple name refers to the pure water offered to buddhas, and that water is described as still welling up at the entrance of the 魔耶窟.
