History and things to know

According to the official guide, in the middle of the Edo period the Satsuma domain, by order of the shogunate, undertook flood control works on the three Kiso rivers, and Hirata Yukie, who was in overall charge, died at Mino Ōmaki right after seeing the works completed in Hōreki 5 (1755). Local people who cherished his virtue raised funds from across the country, and the shrine was founded in Shōwa 13 (1938).
