History and things to know

According to the shrine's tradition, its founding is said to date either to the age of the kami or to the time of Emperor Jinmu, and old records relate that in the reign of Emperor Sujin the ancestor of the Fuefuki no Muraji was granted the Ama no Iwabue (heavenly stone flute). Honoikazuchi Jinja and Fuefuki Jinja are thought to have originally been enshrined separately; they are now enshrined together, with the two kami as the main kami.
