History and things to know

According to the official history of the shrine, Yoshisada died in battle at Fujishima in Engen 3 (1338), and in the Edo period the lord of the Fukui domain erected a stone monument where his helmet had been found. The shrine was founded in Meiji 9, and after a move to Makinoshima, it moved in Meiji 34 to its present site on Mt. Asuwayama.
