History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, following a Ministry of Home Affairs ordinance of Shōwa 14, it was founded in March Shōwa 16 to enshrine Hashimoto Sanai and the war dead connected with the region. After the war it was called 福井御霊宮 for a time, and its present name was restored in Shōwa 26. The shrine buildings, which collapsed in the Fukui earthquake of Shōwa 23, were restored through donations and volunteer work from within the prefecture.
