History and things to know
According to the official guide, when it was founded is not clear, but since an itabi (stone memorial tablet) of Bun'ei 4 (1267) remains, it is thought to be an old temple going back to the Kamakura period. In Enpō 6 (1678) a vermilion-lacquered Kannon Hall was built to enshrine a hidden image of Shō Kanzeon Bosatsu, and the principal image was also restored when the new main hall was built in Heisei 20.
