History and things to know

According to the temple's guide to its history, it is said to have been founded in Bunmei 1 (1469) by the priest 長蓮社観譽祐宗. The priest 祐宗 served as the 9th abbot of Kōmyō-ji in Kamakura. The temple lost its old Buddhist implements and records in a fire in Meiji 33 (1900), and the main hall was rebuilt in Heisei 12.
