History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it began when Susanoo no Kami was enshrined in the reign of Emperor Sujin to calm an epidemic, and later Emperor Ōjin enshrined 三筒男神 and Empress Jingū alongside. The site lies where the three provinces of Settsu, Kawachi and Izumi met. The shrine buildings were lost to war damage in Shōwa 20 and rebuilt in Shōwa 23.
