History and things to know
According to temple tradition, its beginning as a Nichiren temple is regarded as Bun'ei 1, when the Shingon priest Genkai Shōnin received the teaching of Nichiren Shōnin, changed his school, and was given the name Nichiei. Because old records were lost in a fire in Meiji 5, the details of the temple's history are not known. The main hall was rebuilt in Shōwa 48.
