History and things to know
According to temple tradition, Keiryū Shōnin, chief priest of Kannon-ji in Odawara, received a revelation in a dream, set out east carrying that temple's principal image on his back, and stopped at this place at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba. In Genna 4 (1618) a hall was built and the Shōnin's name was taken as the temple name, and the front gate donated by the lord of the Tsuchiura domain in Jōkyō 4 (1687) still remains.
