History and things to know
According to shrine tradition, at the time of Minamoto no Yoritomo's campaign against Ōshū, a man who stayed behind in this area and became a farmer received a divine message from the head shrine at Ōmiya in Musashi Province, and his building of a shrine hall is said to have been its origin. In former times the Sōtō temple Kōen-ji served as its bettō (administering temple). The shrine buildings were burned in an air raid in Shōwa 20, and the shrine hall and kagura hall were built in Shōwa 46.
