Enshrined kami: Lord Karahashi Chūjō Mitsumori (main kami)

History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it was founded in Kenkyū 2 (1191): it began when the villagers, receiving an oracle concerning Lord Mitsumori's skull, which had come floating down the river, built a shrine and enshrined him. At first it was called "Kubi no Miya," and following an oracle in Hōei 5 (1708), it became, as the kami of the four directions (Shihō-jin), the tutelary shrine of the four villages of Ōuchiyama.
