History and things to know

Shrine tradition holds that it was founded at the end of the Kamakura period, and in Tenpō 3 it is said to have received the divine title 正一位足穂稲荷大明神 from the Shirakawa family of Kyoto. In Meiji 40 the village's Mitake, Hakusan, Tenjin and Suijin shrines were enshrined together with it, and in Shōwa 40 it adopted its present name to preserve the disappearing place name Mabashi.
