History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it is said to have begun in Kan'ei 1 (1624) when 遠聲院日運, a monk of Himonya Hokke-ji, built a small hermitage as a place of retirement. It was originally a temple holding the Fuju-fuse position, but when Hokke-ji changed its affiliation during the Fuju-fuse persecution of Genroku 11 (1698), it became a direct subsidiary temple of Minobusan Kuon-ji, and the Sanbōson statues of Hokke-ji were moved here at that time.
