History and things to know

The shrine officially describes itself as having developed against a background of faith in the islands and nature of Izu and in sea transport. The reverence of Minamoto no Yoritomo and the plum-blossom maki-e cosmetic box said to have been dedicated by Hōjō Masako also tell of the history of this place.
