History and things to know
According to the temple's guide, its predecessor was Myōsen-ji, opened in Kannō 1 (1350) in what is now Kanagawa Ward. In Meiji 41 (1908) it had to move because of railway construction, and it merged with Renkō-ji, opened in the Tenshō era, changing its name to Myōren-ji. In Taishō 15 it provided part of its grounds for the Tōyoko Line, and Myōrenji Station was built.
