History and things to know

According to temple tradition, it began in Tenbun 5 (1536) when the priest 運外, the tenth abbot of Myōshin-ji, built a hall at the request of the villagers. The former main hall collapsed in the Nōbi earthquake of Meiji 24, but it was rebuilt around Taishō 3 through the efforts of parishioners.
