History and things to know
According to shrine tradition, in 650 a Daishōgun shrine was established as a guardian of the Naniwa Nagara-Toyosaki Palace, and in 901 Michizane is said to have visited it on his way to Dazaifu. In 949, because seven pine trees grew up in front of the shrine in a single night, a shrine building was erected by imperial command of Emperor Murakami. The present main sanctuary was rebuilt in Tenpō 14 (1843).
