History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it was founded in Bunki 2 (1502), in the late Muromachi period, by 乗蓮社徳譽上人照阿清光順応大和尚. Old documents kept at the temple record that the priests' quarters (kuri) were built in the time of the thirteenth abbot and the main hall in the time of the twenty-fifth. The temple grounds are also said to overlap with the presumed site of 長島高城, of the medieval period.
