History and things to know
According to the official guide, the year of its founding is uncertain, and one theory traces it back to the Yayoi period; it is said to have begun with an ancient powerful clan praying for the harvest of the five grains and the growth of all things. Its name appears in the Engishiki, and it is an ancient shrine recorded with a high divine rank in the Owari no Kuni Kokunai Jinmyōchō of the Nanboku-chō period. Tamahime no Mikoto worked to open up the land in her home region after her husband's death, and was later enshrined together here.
