History and things to know

According to the official guide, when Shingen-kō was posthumously awarded the Junior Third Rank in Taishō 4, a movement to found a shrine gathered momentum; the shrine buildings were completed in Taishō 8 with donations from the people of the prefecture, and the first annual festival was held on April 12 of that year, the anniversary of his death. The site of the residence where the shrine stands was designated a national historic site in Shōwa 13.
