History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it was founded when, in the time of Emperor Sujin, amid continuing poor harvests and epidemics, a shrine was built at Tatsuno in Tatsuta as the great kami who appeared in the emperor's dream had instructed. The Engishiki contains the norito of the Tatsuta Fūjinsai (Wind Kami Festival), and festivals connected with wind, such as the grand annual festival in April and the Fūchin Taisai in July, still continue.

Introduced by this site, based on materials from the shrine or temple and public bodies.
