Enshrined kami: Tōgō Heihachirō no Mikoto

History and things to know

According to the official guide, when Tōgō Heihachirō died at the age of 88 in Shōwa 9, calls to enshrine him as a kami, along with donations, reached the Navy Ministry from all over the country. In response, the Tōgō Gensui Kinenkai foundation was established, and the shrine was founded with offerings collected from the people.
