History and things to know
According to the official guide, it began in December Shōwa 40, when the "Wakajishi no Tō" (Wakajishi Tower) was built on the school site to console and honor fellow students who died in the war. On the 20th anniversary of the tower, with guidance from Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha and Yasukuni Jinja and with the offerings of members of the memorial association, the shrine was founded in October Shōwa 59. The shrine's name comes from the nickname of the youth tank soldiers.
