History and things to know
According to the official history, it began in August of Shōwa 20, just after the end of the war, when the shrine building was received from 厚木空神社 of the Atsugi Naval Air Group and moved to its present site east of Yamato Station. The spirit of Tenmangū was invited from Dazaifu in Kyushu; it was first named Minami-Yamato Tenmangū and later renamed Yamato Tenmangū.
