What the myths hand down

Her father explains that he wished that, by receiving Iwanagahime, life would endure like rock, and that, by receiving Konohanasakuyabime, it would flourish like flowers. The myth links the origin of the limits of life with this event.

Links between the sources and faith

At Kifune Jinja, Iwanagahime no Mikoto is enshrined at the Yui no Yashiro and introduced as a kami of forming bonds (enmusubi). We distinguish the story in the classics from the faith of each shrine, and do not give an explanation that judges the worth of a kami by appearance.
