Goban Zenjin is a collective name for several Buddhist protectors. Shinjōji assigns the group to the thirty-first day, separately from its thirty guardian assignments for days one through thirty.
Which figures are included?
Shinjōji identifies two sages—Yakuō and Yūze Bodhisattvas—two heavenly kings, Bishamonten and Jikokuten, and Kishimojin with the Ten Rakshasi Women. The name does not mean a single deity or simply five individual images.
Daily guardianship and an observance day differ
The thirty-first here is Shinjōji’s daily guardian assignment. It is not an exclusive observance day assigned to each member. Because a lunar month has no thirty-first day, this assignment is not transferred into the lunar-calendar column.
Yūze Bodhisattva is named as a member of the group; a separately verified portrait and individual introduction are not currently supplied.
