History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it was founded by Gyōki in Jinki 1 (724). The main hall, the Yakushidō, is a single-story building in the irimoya style, five bays in both width and depth, and the period of its construction became clear because the year Ninpei 1 (1151) and the building of the Yakushidō and the making of the statue were recorded inside the principal image.
