History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, its founder is said to be either 勝恵法印, who died in Kan'ei 2, or 頼永法印, who died in Enpō 7, and it was the bettō temple of the 鳥栖観音堂 (鴻之巣観音) on the hill behind it. In Taishō 6, the restorer 智隆和上 received Sendai hagi (bush clover) and propagated it again and again by division; today about 2,700 hagi plants surround the grounds.
