History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it was founded in Tenshō 3 when 巧室梵藝 was invited from Kōtoku-ji in Matsudo, and it flourished as the family temple of the Tobari clan of this area. It moved to its present location around the Kan'ei era. It was also involved in local education: in the Meiji period the Kashiwa Elementary School, which had burned, was moved into its grounds, and in the Taishō period it lent its main hall as a classroom for a middle school.
