History and things to know

According to the official guide, in Genna 4 (1618) the Kantō gundai Ina Tadaharu restored an old temple at Akayama, made it the family temple of his clan, and invited the priest 円譽不残 of Shōgan-ji in Kōnosu as its founding priest. The temple's name comes from the Buddhist names of Tadaharu's parents. It declined from the late Edo period onward, but in Shōwa 63 a new main hall and priests' quarters were built.
