Principal image: Amida Nyorai
History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it came to be called Anraku-in because a monk of Anraku-ji in Tsukushi deposited an image of Amida Nyorai here while on pilgrimage, and it originally belonged to the Jōdo sect. It is said to have become its present sect from around Kan'ei 11 (1634), when 山川貞久 (Jōkan) made it a bettō, and within its grounds is the burial site of the Taki family, physicians to the Tokugawa household.
