History and things to know
According to the temple's tradition, it was originally an inge (affiliated temple) of Jōgū-ji in Okazaki, Mikawa Province. In Genna 1 (1615), when Doi Toshikatsu built Sakura Castle, it was moved to this place to guard the castle's kimon (demon gate), and it also served as the bettō (administering temple) of the Tenmangū. It moved to its present site in the Genroku era.
