History and things to know
According to the temple's guide, following the last wishes of the domain founder Tamenobu, the second lord, Nobuhira, built it in the Keichō era in memory of his father at this place with a fine view of Iwakisan, welcoming Zen master Kakuō, eighth abbot of Chōshō-ji, as its founder. In the grounds are the main gate, bell tower, main hall, ihai hall (memorial tablet hall) and a mausoleum (tamaya) enshrining Tamenobu.
