History and things to know
According to the official guide, it is a temple with a history of more than seven hundred years since its founding in the Kamakura period, and it has carried on the traditions of Shugendō and devotion to Kannon. In Reiwa 8, the once-in-sixty-years public showing of the principal image was held, and Shugendō monks, beginning with Shōgo-in Monzeki, formed a Dharma bond (hōen) with it. The area around the main gate is a Tangible Cultural Property designated by Kasukabe City, and a major renovation project for the main hall and the precincts is under way.
