History and things to know
There is a tradition that the temple began when En no Gyōja perceived Zaō Gongen on Mt. Sanjōgatake, carved his form, and enshrined it on the mountain and on Mt. Yoshino. Today it is the head temple of the Kinpusen Shugen Honshū.
