History and things to know
According to the temple history, in the Enryaku era Kōbō Daishi stopped here on his way to Makinoosan and opened a place of practice. Later, in Kōnin 13, a local powerful man, Fuseya Chōja, is said to have built the temple. On the hill behind it is a small Shikoku Eighty-Eight pilgrimage course said to be the oldest in Senshū.
