History and things to know
According to the Konda Sōbyō Engi (dedicated by Ashikaga Yoshinori in 1433), handed down at the shrine, a shrine building was built in front of the imperial tomb by imperial request of Emperor Kinmei, and Hachiman Daibosatsu was welcomed there. It depicts the shrine as having moved to its present site in the reign of Emperor Go-Reizei (1051), and later the shrine was revered by many warriors, beginning with the Minamoto.
