History and things to know

According to the temple's engi, based on the record of the “Renmon Shōja Kyūshi,” it is said to have been built as a branch temple of Jōkō-ji by the priest 縁蓮社三譽村了. In Kansei 3 it was struck by a great tsunami in a violent storm and collapsed, and the present main hall was built in Taishō 5. In Heisei 26 the main hall was renovated and the guest hall rebuilt.
