History and things to know
According to the temple's engi, the medieval temple stood in the middle of Kikyōgahara at a place called Ike-no-bō; after it was lost to the fires of the Takeda clan's warfare in the Tenbun era, the hōin 憲快 re-established it at its present site in Keichō 17. After its halls and records were lost in the great fire of Gōbara-juku in Bunsei 4, the main hall was rebuilt in Kaei 7, followed by the Yakushi hall and the main gate.
