History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it is said to have been founded in Shōryaku 2 (991) by the priest Kaiken of Onjō-ji. In a fire in Shōwa 37 (1962) it lost its main hall and former principal image, but a standing statue of Enmei Jizō Bosatsu was transferred from Tōshōdai-ji, the head temple of the Risshū, and the main hall was rebuilt in Shōwa 45.
