History and things to know
According to the temple's guide, it was founded in the mid-Edo period; in the Meiji period it became a hall outside the precincts of Zen'yō-ji in Koiwa, and it was preserved into the Shōwa period with the support of local people. The image of Fudō Myōō was made in Hōreki 2, and the temple relates that the name “Mottoi Fudō” arose from the devotion of receiving the motoyui (hair cords) hung on its right arm.
