History and things to know

According to the temple's history, it is said to have been opened around Kan'ei 3 (1626) by 来誉萬哲上人 in Tamachi in the city, and in Kanbun 6 it moved to the present site. Its buildings were completely burned in the Kurume air raid of August Shōwa 20, but the principal image, which had been evacuated, escaped harm, and the main hall was rebuilt in Shōwa 44.
