History and things to know

According to the temple's guide, it is said to have been founded in Eikyō 2 (1430), in the Muromachi period. It burned in Meiji 26, and a new main hall was completed in Shōwa 57. The seated Jizō Bosatsu in the main hall is said to be a work of the Nanboku-chō period brought from the nearby Hōkō-in, which had fallen into disuse, and it was designated a Tangible Cultural Property of the town in Shōwa 50.
