History and things to know
According to temple tradition, it began in Kan'ei 9 (1632) when Togawa Masayasu, the second lord of the Niwase domain and a devoted protector of the Nichiren school, ordered a temple built on newly reclaimed land. Its founding patron is said to be Yoshida Shirōemon, who contributed to the reclamation, and its founding priest Honkakuin Nikkan, said to be his second son. The main hall was newly built in Shōwa 57.
