According to the official history, memorial services were at first held at an altar set up on Tobihino in Nara, and in Shōwa 14 an association to support the building of the shrine was organized. In September of Shōwa 17 the shrine buildings were completed through the volunteer work of the people of the prefecture, and in October of the same year the enshrinement ceremony was held under the name Nara-ken Gokoku Jinja, with about 3,000 spirits enshrined.
