History and things to know
According to the official guide, it is regarded as an old shrine that has been worshipped since long ago on the summit of Ōtakiyama, 946 m above sea level. In the grounds are komainu guardian dogs offered by believers from Awa and Sanuki in Tenpō 14, and a great cedar said to be about 500 years old; a legend remains that at the time of the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese Wars a light shone at the top of this cedar.
