History and things to know
According to the shrine's tradition, around the Kenkyū era of the Kamakura period (from 1190), a retainer of Minamoto no Yoritomo who was devoted to Tenjin moved to this area and founded the shrine by inviting the spirit from Kitano Tenmangū in Kyoto. In Shōwa 12 (1937) there was a plan to build a new shrine building and move it to the top of the hill, and a groundbreaking ceremony and offertory sumo were held.
Introduced by this site, based on materials from the shrine or temple and public bodies.
