History and things to know

According to shrine tradition, it began in the reign of Emperor Sujin, when people who had migrated from Izumo enshrined their ancestral kami as Yanagita Ōkami. In Yōrō 2 it was designated the sōja of Sagami Province and moved to its present site, and with the divided spirits of five shrines enshrined together it was called Rokusho-no-miya. The shrine relates that the present main sanctuary was repaired by Hōjō Ujimasa of Odawara.
